This Nordson® system has been developed to be used within applications in which a exact volume dosing is wished for with high viscosity media, like gluing with a robotic system. It is comparable with the Nordson® ProMeter® VDK system, the GMS system however has more options, like a touch screen display on the control cabinet and in and outgoing pressure sensors on the gluing head. The advantage of this system against a standard system is; that the glue application is done through a gear pump on the glue head itself and that the in- and outgoing pressure is guarded by pressure sensors. A standard system only has a gear pump on the drum melter itself, the pump itself delivers a constant volume, but due to the pressure build up in the hose, there will especially be a variable pressure and also glue volume at the start of a glue application. This can be reasonably corrected by a good regulation of the overpressure valve, however the length and diameter of the hose and the viscosity of the used media, can have a huge impact on this. The Gear Metering System solves this problem by transporting the media trough by the gear pump on the glue head and the GMS Control Cabinet allows the user to adjust everything perfectly balanced. The Control Cabinet has in- and outgoing connections for as well the drum melter as a PLC on the main machine, through which the whole installation can be controlled optimal from a distance.
